Fuzhou Port Jiangyin Port Area Connects the Sichuan-Chongqing Sea-Rail Intermodal Transport Corridor
On October 7, the COSCO Shipping Specialized "Yuheng Pioneer" vessel, loaded with 3,356 commercial vehicles, departed from the Jiangyin Port area of Fuzhou Port, Fujian, heading to the Middle East. Among the cargo, nearly 2,000 vehicles were completed automobiles produced in Chongqing. This marks the first time the Jiangyin Port area has received batch shipments from the Sichuan-Chongqing region for the roll-on/roll-off export of commercial vehicles, symbolizing the official integration of the sea-rail intermodal corridor in the Sichuan-Chongqing region at Jiangyin Port.
The exported commercial vehicles in this shipment include multiple automotive brands from various manufacturers and were primarily brought to the port through rail and road transportation. Jiangyin Port has fully utilized the advantages of the sea-rail intermodal transport model of "arriving at the station means arriving at the port." With the support of multiple transport methods, the port has further expanded its network for sourcing goods from the central and western regions. The radiating effect on the inland hinterlands continues to emerge, and the synergetic efficiency of the "arriving at the station means arriving at the port" sea-rail intermodal brand is becoming increasingly evident.
In September this year, the Jiangyin Port area's monthly roll-on/roll-off exports of commercial vehicles exceeded 20,000 units for the first time. The port has now normalized multiple long-distance roll-on/roll-off shipping routes to the Middle East, South Africa, South America, and other regions. It has attracted multiple shipping companies and resources from domestic leading car manufacturers. The roll-on/roll-off export industry ecosystem continues to improve, with expanding hinterland sources and market coverage. Fuzhou Port plans to deepen its development of new hinterland markets in the central and western regions, intensify the planning of shipping routes, accelerate the enhancement of infrastructure efficiency, and fully promote the expansion and upgrading of the complete vehicle roll-on/roll-off export business.
